Creating a tender pipeline your team can trust
Silver Oak Ventures insights
A dependable tender pipeline does not need to be complicated. What matters is that the team can see what is being considered, why decisions were made and what must happen next.
Use clear stages
For example: discovered, evaluating, approved to bid, preparing, final review, submitted and closed. Define what qualifies an opportunity to move forward.
Assign an owner
Each opportunity needs a named person responsible for follow-up, document coordination and escalation.
Track decision dates
Record clarification deadlines, site briefings, internal checkpoints and final submission cutoffs. Allow buffer time for sign-off.
Keep a source of truth
Centralise links, tender notices, documents and notes. Keep version history where addenda can change requirements.
Review the pipeline weekly
Discuss new matches, blocked bids and deadlines. Use the results to improve opportunity selection over time.
